STEVE HICKS LUTHIER

Maker of early and modern fretted instruments

I am a British luthier based in Leicestershire UK. I run a small scale luthery business producing approximately 10 instruments a year, building one or two at a time and working alone.

I usually build to commission only (meaning, to order) though occaisionally offer up for sale new or used Hicks guitars. I build steel string guitars ranging from original designs to vintage USA styles. 12 string. Baritone. Multi scale (Fan Fret) in 6, 7 or 8 string versions. Classical guitars. Octave Mandolins.Irish Bouzouki's and citterns.

My training included 4 years study in early fretted instruments and so I also offer Lutes. Viols. Rennaissance Citterns. Orpahrions and Bandoras. Vihulea and early guitars.

As a fingerstyle guitarist myself I like to specialize in small to medium size steel string guitars. I hope you find something of interest in these pages. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or require further information.

Thank you, Steve Hicks.
